Sheffield has an exceptional combination of ecologically and agriculturally significant land that supports a functioning rural landscape and community. It has both an unusually high concentration of rare plants and animals, as well as the most farms of any town in Berkshire County. It is a part of one of the largest contiguous forests in the Northeast with scenic vistas over the Taconic Range to the west and the Berkshire Highlands to the east The tri-state Berkshire Taconic landscape, of which Sheffield is a part, is also globally significant for the conservation of the region’s natural heritage. The Sheffield Land Trust is dedicated to protecting the land essential to all that.

You can also support us by volunteering. The Sheffield Land Trust is run mostly by volunteers. You could join a committee—they meet for an hour or two every other month—or volunteer for a specific project, like a cleanup day at Ashley Falls Woods, or making cookies for an event, or planting a tree.
