SHEFFIELD LAND TRUST IS ...

Local: Everything we do supports Sheffield's vitality, economic as well as ecological and agricultural, its quality of life and its rural beauty.

Voluntary: The Board of Directors and our many volunteers are all local residents who contribute their time and skills to manage the land trust and carry out our many activities, supplemented by our staff.

Diversified: We work with families, individual landowners, neighborhood groups and other organizations and businesses to save their farms and orchards, protect mountain sides and ridges and other open spaces; including Agricultural Preservation Restrictions and conservation restrictions that allow the land to remain in private hands and pass down to the next generation or be sold.

Smart: We collaborate with other local, state and national conservation organizations and government agencies to broaden our impact, make your dollars go further and achieve mutual goals.

Committed: We seek to insure a future of clean air and water, a viable farm community and locally grown food, wildlife and plant diversity, for future generations to live in harmony with the land.

Effective: We have helped families to conserve over 5,000 acres working in cooperation with over 64 property owners as well as government and private conservation organizations.
